Learning to Fly: An Arm Balance Intensive (Part 2)

  • The Studio 2469 18th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20009 United States (map)

Room: Not heated

Continue building your arm balancing practice by learning how to break down and incorporate more challenging asanas into your vinyasa practice. Arm balances can be decoded into building blocks that are an integral part of our everyday practice. Strength is not as important as understanding these invaluable tools that will allow students to fly and flow.

The building blocks covered in Part 1 will be reviewed and applied to new postures:

- Properly engaging the upper body muscles

- Focusing on alignment in order to rely less on muscular strength

- Engaging key points of contact in the body to leverage and lift off the ground

Arm balances allow us to cultivate strong energy and add dynamism into sequences, alert the nervous system, and build confidence. Muscle engagement and energetic focal points vary depending on the pose. By breaking down asanas into their essential components and applying, students will build a strong base of knowledge and awareness in their bodies, overcome mental barriers, and release a waterfall of benefits for the mind, body and spirit.

Included in the workshop will be arm balances such as Eka Pada Galavasana, Salabhasana, Ashtavakrasana, Tittibhasana, Bhujapidasana, and integrated flow sequences.

Find your confidence, strength, and balance and come fly with us!
